Imagine a day when these three giant companies decide to do the most damage they could to the entire world by disabling passwords and allowing anyone to access any account without restrictions. The outcome would be catastrophic. First, it would be the end of marriages. Second, it would be the start of wars. Lastly, people would lose their money.
Marriages would end because most people hide their secrets in e-mail accounts. There is so much confidential information in e-mails and other accounts. You and I know that. We have various e-mail addresses for various purposes. Besides, we would not want others to know what we search for on the internet in private. Imagine now Google, Microsoft and Yahoo allow anyone to see what we have been doing on the internet, who we have been chatting with and who we have arranged to meet on such and such data? It would not end well, particularly among people in relationships. Your secrets would be out and you will be exposed. Honestly, there are some things that you do privately on the internet that you would want them to remain your own secret. When that day comes, that would be the end of marriages and relationships.
Wars would start across the world. Each country has its own secrets about its programs to overcome another country. Most of this information is hidden somewhere safe through various encryption methods. From advanced weapons, valuable data, to covert operations, plans to business information. now imagine each country can view what other countries have been keeping as a secret. Countries would turn against each other and there would be chaos everywhere.
Lastly, people will lose their money. Today, we use out e-mail accounts to link to our PayPal and other online accounts. We also use e-mail addresses to link to our bank accounts. Now, what if someone else could access that information publicly? They would steal our entire savings or whatever they found on our accounts.
If Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo decide to do the most damage to the entire world, the outcome would be catastrophic. However, that is impracticable. They simply cannot do that.
